Your average position
When an AI platform recommends hotels, it usually lists several of them, often between 6 and 10. Your position shows where your hotel appears in that list: first, second, third and so on. The number next to the "#" sign is your average position across all chats in which your hotel was mentioned.
Lower is better. An average position of 2.5 means you're usually among the first hotels named.
Chats where you're not mentioned don't count towards your average position. They're reflected in your visibility score instead.
Read your position and your visibility score together. If your visibility goes up while your average position gets slightly worse, that's usually good news: you're now being mentioned in more answers, including ones where you appear further down the list.
Your competitors
You don't need to enter a competitive set. MARA reads every AI answer, identifies all hotels mentioned and ranks them by visibility. This shows you who you really compete with in AI answers for your prompts.
These hotels often differ from the competitive set you use for revenue management. AI platforms may recommend a small independent hotel you've never considered a competitor, or a hotel in a neighbouring district.
You'll see the hotels with the highest visibility in your overview, along with your own hotel and its rank. Open a single prompt to see which hotels are recommended for that question.
Good to know
Sister hotels appear as competitors. If other hotels from your group are mentioned for your prompts, they're shown as competitors, because MARA tracks each property separately.
A restaurant or bar with its own name isn't counted as your hotel. If the AI recommends your restaurant under its own name, it won't count towards your hotel's visibility.
