Why a hotel can appear twice
AI platforms don’t always use the same name for a hotel. MARA reads every hotel name as it appears in the AI answer, so spelling variants, former names or names with and without “Hotel” can show up as separate entries in your competitor list.
How to merge two entries
Click Show all competitors.
Next to the duplicate entry, click Merge competitor.
Select the hotel the entry belongs to and confirm.
The two entries are now treated as one hotel.
Good to know
Use one name everywhere. AI platforms pick up the names they find on your website, OTA listings and directory entries. The more consistently your hotel is named across these sources, the less often spelling variants appear in AI answers.
Sister hotels are not duplicates. Different properties of the same group are tracked separately on purpose and shouldn’t be merged.
